Finding a Role in Serialization Efforts

The eighth part of this Special Report shows companies of all sizes were involved in serialization efforts, with those responsibilities delegated to individuals at varying levels within their organizations.

It’s understandable that companies with the largest number of employees (1,000+) represented the largest number of respondents to Healthcare Packaging’s Serialization Playbook Survey. Yet as Chart 8.1 shows, the second-largest respondent group happened to employ the fewest people (1-19).

That diversity illustrates the breadth and influence of serialization in the healthcare/life sciences market.

The majority of personnel assigned serialization responsibilities worked at the corporate level (Chart 8.2), but many also focused on the task at a specific plant, or on a serialization team.

Dirk Rodgers, Founder of RxTrace.com, said, “These are healthy results. Everyone taking part in a serialization effort should seek information about the experiences of others, like those found in the Playbook.”

Healthcare Packaging’s exclusive Serialization Playbook survey looked at the role of serialization on packaging lines from multiple points of view. The Playbook was downloaded more than 4,700 times between 2012 and 2018. Each person answered a series of questions that revealed details such as where they worked, their role in serialization, as well as key metrics such as how many lines they were responsible for serializing and where those lines were located.
